This original watercolour depicts the beach at the seaside town of Watchet in Somerset where beachcombing is popular as many interesting fossils get washed up by the tides. Seagulls can be seen flying overhead and the sea gently laps against the interesting rock formations. Watchet harbour became the inspiration for the epic poem The Ancient Mariner by the romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
